
Description
The Family Medicine Physician is essential to our Integrated Clinical Care Team. Their role is to ensure the delivery of excellent healthcare services by providing quality medical care to all patients of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Community Health Center (PGSCHC). They are also responsible for providing input on tribal health matters, assist in developing annual goals, and monitoring community health. The Family Medicine Physician provides medical care, diagnosis, treatment, and referral for patients of all ages. They offer primary medical care, diagnosis, treatment, and referral for PGSCHC patients as needed.
Duties Include:
Create clinical linkages for patients in the multi-disciplinary integrated clinical care team.
Provide direct clinical services to patients needing solution-focused and resource-based interventions.
Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to connect patients to services and resources needed to support their healthcare goals.
Treatment of all types of infectious diseases and the entire range of medical conditions with patients of all ages.
Provide a diagnosis based on visual and verbal input, medical knowledge, and experience.
Communicate well and develop good rapport with patients, children, parents, and extended family.
Have a caring and sympathetic bedside manner. Manage patient schedule in a respectful and considerate manner.
Respect patients as owners of the PGSCHC.
Ability to supervise other medical staff and provide advice, support, and training to medical/health staff.
Work with electronic health record programs and other tribal-specific healthcare software, at times guiding the development and implementation of the software.
Timely documentation of patient care and completion of administrative tasks.
Punctual participation in meetings.
Participate in continuous professional development and CME according to the needs of the clinic and requirements of licensure. Maintain and manage a personal development plan.
Support development of the clinical team by sharing medical knowledge.
Other duties as assigned and within the Health Leadership Team.
Remote Work:
This position is eligible for situational remote work as needed. The schedule must be discussed with and approved by the supervisor and director and may be subject to change depending on role and department need.
Education and Certifications:
Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
Valid, active and unrestricted medical license
A valid Washington State Driver’s license is required.
DEA certification and current BLS/ACLS certification.
Qualifications:
American Indian/Alaska Native preferences apply
Strong business acumen
Exceptional interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communication
Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Demonstrates initiative, effective time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suites and EHR software
Knowledge of integrated care models and trauma-informed care
Strong interpersonal skills and cultural humility
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years experience in the provision of medical services in a tribal setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to finger, handle, reach with hands and arms
Frequently required to walk, sit, stand.
Occasionally required to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Normal audio and visual acuity
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require applicable training.
Travel Requirements:
Local, Statewide, and out-of-state travel may be required.
