Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary physician educator to serve as the Associate Program Director (APD) for our Internal Medicine Residency Program, with a dedicated focus on developing and leading a robust Primary Care Track. This role is ideal for a clinician passionate about advancing primary care education, mentoring future leaders in outpatient medicine, and shaping innovative training models that address the evolving needs of healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary Care Track Development & Oversight
- Design, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive primary care curriculum aligned with ACGME requirements and institutional goals.
- Collaborate with faculty, clinical partners, and community stakeholders to create diverse outpatient training experiences.
- Integrate population health, health equity, and team-based care principles into the track's structure.
Educational Leadership
- Serve as a core faculty member and mentor for residents, particularly those in the primary care track.
- Lead didactic sessions, case-based learning, and scholarly activities focused on ambulatory medicine.
- Participate in recruitment, selection, and evaluation of residents with interest in primary care careers.
- Serve on residency committees such as the Clinical Competency Committee and the Program Evaluation Committee
Program Administration
- Assist the Program Director in overall residency program operations, including accreditation, evaluation, and strategic planning.
- Monitor and assess resident performance and progression, providing individualized feedback and support.
- Contribute to faculty development initiatives and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Clinical Practice
- Maintain an active clinical role in outpatient internal medicine, serving as a role model for residents.
- Participate in quality improvement and practice transformation efforts within the primary care setting.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree with board certification in Internal Medicine.
- Eligibility for medical licensure in Arizona.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in outpatient internal medicine or academic primary care.
- Prior experience in graduate medical education or curriculum development preferred.
